So we've all had a messy bedroom at one point or another. Maybe you were sick and just didn't have the energy to clean. Perhaps you were too busy studying for exams. Maybe you just got sick of cleaning up after others and just went on strike. Either way, at some point or another we were all a mess.
According to the Parent Report It is actually healthy for kids to have their privacy, and their rooms should remain as they want. You can encourage them to clean, but doing so yourself can hurt their sense of privacy. One person's trash may be another's treasure.
How to get them to keep clean? According to WiseGeek Don't give them too many rules at a young age. Chore overload creates resistance. Add chores gradually. Make it a positive experience. Use modeling, let them se you doing it so they can imitate you...The rest of the article pretty is interesting.
But this isn't supposed to be a serious helpful article. I just couldn't help but notice that I actually find messy bedrooms fascinating. They can really tell a story of spiraling disorganization. If you really examine a mess, you can determine how it happened. What started with a simple thing like leaving a pair of pants over a chair, ends up into a catastrophe. Take a look at this picture. Its interesting to explore it. There are boxes, an empty juice box and much much more.
I can be a minimalist some times, but when it comes to messes, I'm all for maximizing, as long as I don't have to clean up.
This was a project I did with a friend to help him clean his room. To motivate him, we took pictures every 15 minutes, and created this collage. It took a while (quite a mess) but it was kind of fun.
