Kids’ rooms present special challenges. Here are some interesting tips and ideas I found that will spare you some headaches, save you some money, and make your child happy with his or her room.
One of the biggest (no pun intended) headaches in decorating your child’s bedroom is that they grow quickly. This means that the bed will likely need to be replaced every 2-3 years until their early to mid teens.IKEA has an excellent solution; They created a bed that is extendable and a crib that will turn into a toddler’s bed. This will save you both time and money, and is also available in a very wood
Kids rooms cannot be boring. You want to stimulate creativity and dreaming. Creating a theme to the bedroom will add life to any bedroom. For your child who wants to be a fireman or a princess, try Rosenberry's Theme rooms which allows you to browse products based on themes. Browse by color or create a fun environment for your child. Try baseball drawer knobs , the puffer fish bookends or a dinosaur growth chart. They even have a western cradle for the new born western fan.
Why not create a mural, (maybe) with your kids help, to add color and creativity into your child’s environment? Check out Wallnutz for all kinds of easy ways to cover up a boring wall. They have different techniques that can take you from as little as an afternoon to complete. You can order decals or paint by the number (how awesome is that?). There is surely something there that your child will enjoy waking up to every morning.
Another fun idea, is chalkboard decals. Your kid will draw on the walls anyway! So with these decals, which also look neat, you can kill two birds with one stone, get your child to draw on the wall only where they are supposed to, and remind your child to clean up his/her room when they get home.
One important factor in a child’s bedroom is usually space. Therefore a hide away bunk bed that couples as a desk seems perfect. What’s really great is that this will force your child to keep tidy. Or go for this loft bed with storage underneath, and best of all a slide! (I wish I had a slide in my room when I was a kid…maybe even now too!)
One of the best tips I could think of, after writing this article, is to shop online. Or at least browse online. There are so many great ideas that are sure to satisfy both you and the pickiest child. Staying at home one afternoon and picking out a few items online together with your child will save you a bunch of trips out to who knows how many stores. And then when you go to the store, it can be an easy in and out.
Just about everything you will need: From newborn until teenagers
Really fun things for kids and young teens rooms.
Good Luck and Have Fun!
